Willie Earl Cummings, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:50 am July 10, 2020 at Nature Trail Health Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born September 7, 1942 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late Eugene and Bessie (Ward) Cummings. Willie married Erhese Young McKnight Cummings and she preceded him in death.

Willie is survived by his sisters, Mary E. Montgomery of Beldeal, Mississippi, Egenia Boyd of Grand Rapid Michigan, Lois H. Hewit of Grand Rapid, Michigan; brother, Jimmie Lee Cummings of Planterville, Mississippi; sons, Gary Cummings of Chicago, Illinois, Terry Spearman of Rockford, Illinois; daughters, Andrea Franklin of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Lynnette M. Cummings of Mount Vernon, Illinois; special friends, Shirley Johnson and Anna Smith; host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Willie was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Eugene Cummings and Clint Cummings; and sons, James Gregory Cummings and Jeffery Dwight Cummings.

To Willie there was nothing better than a good fishing hole or playing cards in his free time.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Inurnment will follow.
