SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — It’s been a cool start to the month of May, but until the past week it has been rather dry. And the Saline and Gallatin County Farm Bureau Manager Marisa Davis says that dry weather is helping farmers to a strong start compared to last year.

Davis says the vast majority of corn is already in the ground compared to just a fraction at this time last year.

Davis continues to urge caution on the roadways as farmers continue to travel on local roads.
