CARMI, IL — A man was arrested Tuesday in White County after leading police there on a chase in a stolen pickup truck. According to White County Sheriff Doug Maier, the sheriff’s office got word about the truck with Illinois plates out of Mt. Vernon, Indiana that was heading west on Indiana 62 toward Illinois 141.
Indiana authorities found the truck using a GPS locating device within the vehicle and told White County Dispatch that it was setting still at 1225 County Road 1700 East. It was being driven by Ryan C. Reynolds.
Law enforcement in White County attempted to stop the truck, but it sped off along the edge of a field and the chase began through a large field. The chase then continued west on County Road 1225 North and then south on County Road 1700 East where truck began having trouble. It appeared to have smoke coming from it. Reynolds stopped the truck and was taken into custody. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Reynolds was taken to the White County Jail where he is being held on charges of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing or attempting to elude police.
