MARION, IL — The Marion City Council is expected to discuss with possible approve the IDOT Preliminary Engineering Services agreement for intersection improvement at the intersection of 17th Street and Williamson County Parkway when it meets tonight at 6:30 at City Hall.

Back in November, the city council approved a resolution to commit local funds to improvements that are needed at the intersection of Williamson County Parkway and 17th Street.

Officials say currently those traveling north on Williamson County Parkway to turn west on 17th Street do not have a clear line of vision for oncoming traffic. That intersection will be upgraded and widened a bit to make the necessary changes.

The city will commit to appropriating available city funds of 20 percent of the cost of that work. Eighty percent will be funded through state roadway improvement funds.
