FAYETTE COUNTY — A 61-year-old Vandalia woman has been charged in Fayette County Court with financial exploitation of an elderly person and theft.

Prosecutors say Connie Bolyard is charged with a Class 1 felony financial exploitation of an elderly person for withdrawing more than $50,000 in one case is also charged with one count of Class 2 felony theft for “knowingly exerting unauthorized control over $24,017.99 of United States currency, intending to deprive the owner permanently of the use or benefit of said property.”

A warrant for Bolyard’s arrest was issued Monday and she was taken into custody on Wednesday. Bail was set at $50,000 and Bolyard was released after posting $5,000 cash bond.

She’s scheduled to make her first appearance in Fayette County court on January 7.
