PERRY COUNTY — A man is facing attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting and fire that happened Wednesday morning in Du Quoin.

Illinois State Police say Dustin Goodwin has been charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and is lodged in the Perry County Jail on $5 million bond. A court date has not been set.

Illinois State Police along with the Du Quoin Police and Fire Departments and the Illinois Fire Marshall continue to investigate the fire and shooting that happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of North Division Street after police got a report of an alleged disturbance in that area.

Officers from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Pinckneyville Police Department also responded to the scene to help with the incident where Goodwin was subsequently arrested and charged.

North Division and North Washington Street were both closed north of East Coles Street to all traffic during the standoff. North Washington Street is back open now. The investigation into the shooting and fire continues.
