FRANKLIN COUNTY — Franklin County Board Chairman Randall Crocker says there’s a lot of construction happening right now at the Campbell Building on the Benton Square.

Once work is completed, the County Treasurer, County Clerk and Circuit Clerk offices and the courts will move out of the courthouse and into the Campbell Building. When the new courthouse is finished, the Circuit Clerk’s office and the courts will move back with the County Treasurer and County Clerk offices staying permanently in the Campbell Building.

Crocker says construction at the Campbell Building will be done by the end of the year. He hopes to have  everyone moved in by the first of February.

As for the courthouse on the Benton Square, the old courthouse is scheduled to be demolished in February with construction set to begin in July. It’s projected to take 14 months to complete the new three-story courthouse with a completion date set for November 2021.
