CENTRALIA, IL — Centralia Fire Chief John Lynch is calling a Thursday afternoon fire arson saying gasoline was poured on the enclosed front porch of a home in the 500 block of North Cherry in Centralia before it was set ablaze.

Fire Chief John Lynch says firefighters were able to confine the fire to the porch but the rest of the home sustained minor smoke damage.

A suspect is being sought.

The fire was reported around 3:48 a.m. Thursday by a person who reportedly saw suspicious activity. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour.
