GALLATIN COUNTY — Three people were taken by ambulance to local area hospitals after being involved in a two-vehicle crash around 12:30 Saturday afternoon on Illinois 1 at Illinois 141 in Gallatin County.

According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation from Illinois State Police, the driver of the Lincoln MKZ, 80-year-old Frank D. Burk of Watson, Illinois was traveling southbound on Illinois 1, when for unknown reasons, he failed to stop at the four-way stop intersection with Illinois 141. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, 41-year-old Nathan D. Baldwin of Norris City, was eastbound on Illinois 141.  After stopping at the four-way stop intersection with Illinois 1, Baldwin proceeded through the intersection, when his vehicle was struck by Burk’s vehicle going south.

Baldwin, Burk, and a passenger in Burk’s vehicle, 68-year-old Carolyn A. Seibert of Watson, were injured as a result of the crash and transported to local area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Both vehicles had to be removed from the crash scene by a tow service.

Frank Burk received a citation for disregarding a stop sign.

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department, Gallatin County Rural Fire Department, Deaconess Ambulance Service and C&T Towing assisted ISP District 19 at the crash scene.
