CARBONDALE — The Illinois Farm Bureau, together with the Illinois Nutrient Research & Education Council (NREC) and Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), will host a field day Wednesday, June 26 to showcase research efforts ongoing at SIUC
The field day, which will be held at SIUC University Farms, will cover topics including:
- Impacts of cover crops, saturated buffers and WASCoBs on water quality;
- Influence of tillage and cover crop on soil nitrous oxide emissions;
- Research involving weed suppression in soybeans using wheat;
- Recent developments in environmental policy and how it impacts Illinois farmers.
The field day will begin at 9 a.m. with a general welcome and conclude with lunch and student poster demonstrations at noon. Attendees also will break into smaller groups, rotating to each presentation before lunch.
