CARMI, IL — Carmi Police have had several reports of car burglaries since Friday night in various areas of town.

According to a post on the Carmi Police Facebook page, police are asking for anyone who has seen a suspicious person or persons, to call and advise if they were able to identify them. If you see someone actively messing around vehicles, please call the police immediately.

Police are also asking for anyone who might have home surveillance cameras around the following areas to contact police to see if your cameras could have captured those responsible for the burglaries:

100 block of Stewart Street
100 Block of Greenbriar
200 block of Walnut Street
500 block of Ellen Drive
700 block of Smith Street
300 block of Walker
100 & 300 block’s of Robinson Street

These are the areas which have been reported to police so far.

If you have noticed items stolen from your vehicle and have not reported it to police and signed a complaint yet, you are encouraged to report it.

Further, police are urging residents to please remove valuables from vehicles, remove your keys and lock your vehicles and buildings.
