BELLE RIVE — A 24-year-old Mt. Vernon man died over the weekend after he was involved in an SUV-pedestrian crash in rural Belle Rive early Saturday morning.
David Derrald Leon Jay was the pedestrian. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s department reports Jay was trapped under a Chevrolet Blazer and had to be extricated. The driver and two passengers of the SUV were un-injured, their names have not been released.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, they received a 911 call at 1:53 a.m. Saturday, reporting the crash.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s office continue to investigate the incident.
