CENTRALIA — A 51-year-old Centralia man is in the Marion County Jail after he was arrested on multiple charges, including pointing a firearm at a police officer.
The incident occurred Friday night in a car outside the east side Casey’s General Store.
A man now identified as Robert Manley allegedly pointed a gun at an officer before getting out of the car with the weapon and attempting to flee on foot.
A brief foot chase ensued, during which Manley apparently dropped or threw the gun. Manley was then tased by the officer who was able to take him into custody without further incident.
Manley was arrested for armed violence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated assault, and reckless driving.
The gun Manley pointed at the officer was loaded and another gun was found in his vehicle.
