MARION — Visitation for former Marion Mayor Emeritus Bob Butler will be held today and tomorrow at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.

Butler died last Monday. He was 92.

According to the City of Marion’s Facebook page, Butler will lie in State in the lobby of the Marion Cultural and Civic Center for the public to pay their respect today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Additional visitation will be held tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon. A formal memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Memorials are preferred to flowers. Memorials can be made to the following entities:

Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois service unit 42

Butler was Marion’s Mayor for 55 years and retired in January 2018.
