WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Five Grand Rapids, Michigan residents were involved in a single-vehicle accident early this morning on I-57 in Williamson County.
Illinois State Police say around 2:15, 18-year-old Michael Brown was driving south on I-57 at milepost 44 when he said he fell asleep and struck a guardrail end on the shoulder of the roadway causing major damage to his car.
One of his passengers, 29-year-old Balinda McCoy, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three other passengers – 18-year-old Heaven Christian, 21-year-old Isa Flores and a two-year-old juvenile – were reportedly not injured.
Brown was issued citations for no valid driver’s license and improper lane usage.
