JEFFERSON COUNTY — The election for Jefferson County Sheriff features the current Undersheriff in the county and a longtime member and captain with the Mt. Vernon Police Department. Clint Taylor and Jeff Bullard are both seeking to be the next sheriff of the county.
Drugs in the county are an issue both candidates want to combat. Taylor says the Sheriff’s Office is already treating the drug epidemic as a top priority, and he wants to keep it as a top priority in the department.
Bullard says it is time to bring back a combined drug task force between the Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Both are looking to succeed Travis Allen, who is running for Jefferson County Treasurer.
You can hear the full interviews with Taylor and Bullard this Sunday at 11 a.m. on the Southern Illinois Insider on AM 940, 96.5 FM, and 94.1 FM, WMIX.
