Neal S. Osborn, 92, of Nason, Illinois passed away at 2:46 A.M. July 27, 2018 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Hewas born June 7, 1926 in Nason to the late Enoch and Clara Laverne (Lynch) Osborn.

Neal married Bernice (Pyszka) Osborn in 1948. In addition to his wife of 70 years, Neal is survived by his sons, Jeff Osborn and wife, Judy of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Ricky L. Osborn and wife, Susan of Bonnie,Illinois, and Roger D. Osborn of Bonnie, Illinois; grandchildren, Jami Gilbert and husband, Daniel of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Jeremy Osborn and wife, Haylei of Scheller, Illinois, and Justin Osborn and wife, Tara of Scheller, Illinois; and great-grandchildren, Halle Clare, Kerigan Gilbert, and Ty Gilbert.

In addition to his parents, Neal was preceded in death by his siblings, Wayne Osborn, Frances Osborn, Millie Lemons, and Shirley Pigg.

Neal proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He worked at Wagner Electric in Mount Vernon for 34 years. Neal also worked as a carpenter and a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time, but most of all, Neal loved spending time with is grandchildren.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

A Visitation will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Newell Funeral Home with Reverend Don Rector officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.The American Legion Post #141 will be conducting Full Military Honors at the cemetery. Memorials may be made in Neal’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
