A Mt. Vernon man was arrested and charged for unlawful possession of methamphetamine after Benton Police conducted a traffic stop early Thursday morning at the intersection of North McLeansboro and Bailey Lane.

During the stop, Benton Police K9 Ranger alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle 52-year-old Brian J. Brewster was driving.

Brewster was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
