DE SOTO — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Jackson County Saturday night.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at 10 p.m. on Route 149 near Hicks Road in rural De Soto.

According to the sheriff’s report, the driver of one of the vehicles had to be freed from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver’s passenger was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and later flown to a St. Louis area hospital for further treatment.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle involved in the crash were not hurt and declined treatment by paramedics.

No names have been released at this time.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the crash. Officials say more information will be released as it becomes available.
