MT. VERNON — A Mt. Vernon Man pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court on Friday to a Class 1 Felony charge of unlawful delivery of 1 to 15 grams of heroin.
46-year-old Robert W. Riddle, Jr., now faces a sentence of four to 15 years in prison. The plea deal resulted in a previous Class X Felony charge being dropped. Riddle had previously been charged with drug-induced homicide.
The charges stemmed from the June 2015 overdose of Bridge K. Jimenez. Riddle and Blake Howell were both charged in the death. Part of the plea agreement requires Riddle to testify against Howell and any other possible defendants who may be charged in the case.
Howell still faces the Class X Felony charge. Riddle admitted providing the heroin to Howell who allegedly in turn delivered the drugs to Jimenez. Jimenez reportedly overdosed in a hotel room from the heroin and later died.
Riddle and Howell are both in the Jefferson County Justice Center each on $500,000 bond.
Court reports indicate that Riddle will have a follow up hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a status hearing set for Oct. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
