WILLIAMSON COUNTY — A woman died after allegedly being hit by a car around 9:15 last night on Pittsburg Blacktop, south of Gabby Road in Williamson County.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about the crash, and the caller said that she may have seen a person hit by a car but the caller didn’t stop, so she wasn’t sure. Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency personnel went to the scene.
After their arrival, the father of the driver of the vehicle told deputies that his son had called him after hitting a deer. The car was drivable, so his son had left the scene to continue going to work and would call to make an accident report after his son got off work. The father told deputies that the deer must have run into the cornfield.
After searching the area, a woman was found in high grass between the roadway and cornfield. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is not being released until family members are notified. The road was closed for several hours due to the crash.
The driver of the vehicle was found at work and was interviewed. The investigation into the crash continues. An autopsy will be scheduled by the Williamson County Coroner’s Office.
