(BENTON, IL) — Seven Peoria residents were involved in single-vehicle injury crash Monday morning in Franklin County. Illinois State Police say just before 7, the driver of the car, 20 year old Alejandra N. Ruiz Anguiano was going north on I-57 about a half-mile from the West Frankfort exit when she lost control of her car due to a mechanical failure. Her car struck the guardrail off the right shoulder, spun violently and came to rest partially in the left lane of northbound I-57. ISP says the rotational forces caused a 16-year-old girl in the car to be ejected. She was not wearing a seat belt. She suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital. She was later flown to a regional hospital. The driver and two others in the car suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Another man and woman along with a 13-year-old girl in the car were not injured. The left lane of northbound I-57 was closed for an hour for crash investigation and clean up. ISP says no charges were filed.
