(MT. VERNON, IL) — The City of Mt. Vernon has announced that Perkins Avenue from Illinois Route 37 to 12th Street will be closed on Monday March 13th at 7 a.m. This closure is expected to last for an extended period of time while the sidewalks, entrances, and side roads connections are completed.  Motorists are encouraged to use the detours of Conger Avenue or Herbert Street to maneuver through the area.  Through truck traffic is encouraged to use 12th Street to access Perkins Avenue.  For more information, visit the City’s Facebook page by searching the keyword: Mt.
