(SALEM, IL) — A 39-year-old Salem man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Marion County court to a violation of Illinois Sex Offender regulations. Christopher Phillips was sentenced to 2-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and 1-year mandatory supervised release at the completion of his prison term. He will receive credit for 19-days served in the Marion County Jail since his February arrest. Phillips was arrested last month by Marion County Sheriff’s deputies after he was found to be a registered child sex offender residing near a park. Phillips was convicted in Tennessee of sexually abusing a victim under the age of 13 when he was 33-years-old. He is now registered in Illinois as a sexual predator and has since been convicted of failing to report a change of address.
