(MT. VERNON, IL) — Two men arrested in connection with the November 2016 robbery of a pizza delivery driver in 300 block of North Fifth Street in Mt. Vernon, have each plead guilty to mob action. Sentenced to three years apiece in the Illinois Department of Corrections were 19 year old Omar Jackson of Mt. Vernon and 21 year old Demonteze Rozier of Springfield. As part of their individual plea agreements, charges of robbery were dismissed. Police reports indicate that on November 27th, a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza had been a victim of an alleged incident of battery and robbery in which cash and products were taken by a group of people while in the process of delivering food in the 300 block of North Fifth Street. Officers responded to the scene and the investigation led to a residence in the 300 block of North Sixth Street, where a search of that residence led officers to recover property stolen during the robbery of the delivery person and an additional prior robbery. Five individuals, Jackson, Rozier, and three juveniles were arrested in the investigation. The driver was treated and released from SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital for injuries incurred in the incident.
