(PINCKNEYVILLE, IL) — Pinckneyville teachers have filed a notice of intent to strike with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board. The Pinckneyville Elementary Education Association, which represents 30 kindergarten through eighth grade teachers in Pinckneyville District 50, claims the district is asking teachers to take a cut in pay. The contract with the PEEA ended when school started in August, and the union and school board have been unable to come to an agreement since negotiations began last March. No strike date has been set, but the union must give at least ten days of notice before striking. That notice was given on February 16.
