Steven Hunter Morrison, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:56 pm March 31, 2025 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born November 11, 1946 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late George Robert and Thelma Evelyn (Jester) Morrison. Steven married Mary (McNealy) Morrison on August 3, 1968 in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

In addition to his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Steven is survived by his son, Tony Morrison of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Mason Patrick Hyland Morrison of Scranton, Pennsylvania and Joshua Hunter Morrison of Mayfield, Kentucky; brother, Robert Morrison of Mount Vernon; nephew, Daniel Morrison of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Keith Morrison; brother, Scott Edward Morrison and nephew, Michael Steven Morrison.

Mr. Morrison proudly served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne. He graduated from Christobol High School in the Panama Canal Zone while his father was in the military. Steven attended Calvary Pentecostal Church and was a member of Kankakee Lions Club and Ducks Unlimited. He loved to fish and will be dearly missed.

A Visitation will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Steven’s honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s.
