SANDOVAL, IL — A Carlyle woman was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning on U.S. 50 near Jolliff Bridge Road west of Sandoval. Clinton County officials say 26-year-old Hazel Huels was found dead in her SUV, which had left the roadway and rolled after striking a culvert. Emergency responders arrived around 12:40 AM, but it’s unclear what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. The investigation is ongoing.
