MT. VERNON, IL — Mt. Vernon Police are investigating an early Monday morning homicide.

Police along with Mt. Vernon Fire and Litton’s Ambulance responded around 5:50 a.m. to the 600 block of South 15th Street after getting a report about a man who had been murdered. Police detectives were called in to investigate and two subjects were taken into custody. A third suspect was later identified.

A search warrant was obtained and police along with the Jefferson County High-Risk Team served it in the 500 block of South 17th Street at 8:15 Monday night. The third suspect was taken into custody.
