
Janet K. Shelton, age 80 of Salem, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Keystone Place at Richland Creek in O’Fallon, Illinois
Janet was born on February 10, 1945 in Cisne, Illinois, the daughter of Wayne and Velma (Dean) Block. She married Dr. Larry Paul Shelton on June 15, 1963 and together they shared 60 years united in marriage and serving the Lord.
Survivors include her daughters, Letha Carlson and husband Paul of Belleville, Illinois and Lana Bertschi and husband Paul of Alton, Illinois; grandchildren, Brittney Murray and husband James, Taylor Smallwood and husband Ryan, Zachary Bertschi and Coty Bertschi; sisters, Carolyn Winters and husband Jim of Canton, Missouri, and Lois Block of Canton, Missouri; sister in-laws, Karen Watson and husband Gary of Salem, and Kathy Young and husband Richard of Cisne; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Velma; father and mother in-law: Paul and Loretta Shelton; a sister, Joan Block; a niece, Megan Young, and a great grandson, Cooper Smallwood.
Janet was a devoted member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Salem where her and her husband served in ministry for several years. She worked numerous jobs throughout the years, but she retired from World Color Press in Salem after working there for 22 years. Janet loved to garden and sew, but her most important love was her family.
Funeral services for Janet K. Shelton will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Mike Fogerson officiating. Burial will follow at the Cisne Cemetery in Cisne, Illinois. There will be a visitation on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
