CENTRALIA, IL — A Centralia man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Tuesday night near the Broadway crossing in downtown Centralia. Police say the train was slowing down but still traveling at about 32 miles per hour when the incident occurred. 66 year old Joel Firebaugh was pronounced dead at the scene. The train, with 47 passengers and crew on board, was delayed by about an hour. Investigations by Centralia Police and the Marion County Coroner’s office are ongoing.
