
Lois I. Ohley, 95, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:19 pm March 3, 2025 at her residence. She was born February 17, 1930 in Streator, Illinois to the late Leslie and Marie H. (Lowns) Ayers. Lois married John D. Ohley on April 22, 1950 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with sixty-two years or marriage before he preceded her in death on October 26, 2012.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Denise Elliott and husband, Ed of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Kristi M. Lisiecki and husband, Jim of Bath, Pennsylvania; special daughter, Lorie Hazel; grandchildren, Aaron Elliott and wife, Angela, Blake Elliott and wife, Melissa, Allison Lisiecki Bakey and husband, Eric, and Kyle Lisiecki and wife, Krista; great-grandchildren, Caden, Connor, Jordyn, Haley, Emily, and Brody; sister-in-law, Kathi Ayers; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald W. Ayers and sister, Janet D. Ayers.
Lois worked as a bank teller and telephone operator. She was a member of attended Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Lois was an avid Saint Louis Cardinal fan and never missed a game. She was the heart of her family and cared for everyone around her, especially her parents while she was growing up, to her sister who had been in special care all her life, and to her wonderful husband who had Alzheimer’s. She nursed them through all obstacles with love and never complaining. She loved her family, daughters, sons-in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am with Father Steve Pautler and Deacon Mark Kabat officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Lois’ honor to SSM Health at Home Hospice or St. Mary Cemetery.
