
Carmen Elaine (Newton) Webb, 74, of Opdyke, IL passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at StoneBridge Memory Care in Mt. Vernon, IL. Carmen was born November 1, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Max & Alberta “June” (Braddy) Newton. On July 26, 1968 she married Marvin Webb, who survives.
Carmen was a homemaker in her earlier years, but became a social worker for Lutheran Child & Family Services in Mt. Vernon, IL where she had retired. She was a member of the New Life Harvest Church in Mt. Vernon, IL. She loved the Lord very much and was very proud of her faith. She was a very caring, giving, and humble person. She always had a smile on her face. She loved gardening, crafting, shopping, and animals.
Carmen is survived by her husband Marvin Webb of Opdyke, IL; a son Scott Webb of Opdyke, IL; a daughter Larae Webb of McLeansboro, IL; a sister Carla Newton & husband Lendell Fullerton of Salem, IL; a brother James “Fig” Newton of Herrin, IL; a cousin Ronnie Reininger of Daytona Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Max & Alberta “June” Newton, and a step-brother Larry Newton.
Funeral services for Carmen Elaine (Newton) Webb will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 at the New Life Harvest Church in Mt. Vernon, IL with Pastor Eric Ragan officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Interment at Belle Prairie Cemetery at Belle Prairie, IL will be held at a later date.
