Dixie Wilson, 87, passed away at 11:17 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor, in Mt. Vernon.

She was born October 16, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Joseph Daniel and Gertie Lee (Reynolds) Davis. On December 29, 1956, she married Billy E. Wilson, and he survives.

In the first few years of marriage, Dixie and Bill lived and worked in La Grange, IL. Then they moved back to Mt. Vernon, where they spent the rest of their years together on their farm. Dixie worked for a short time as a secretary at Tri-County Electric Cooperative and served as an administrative secretary for Mt. Vernon Township High School for a total of 40 years. Dixie was a dedicated member of South Hickory Hill Christian Church, where she also served as secretary treasurer of the church and the cemetery.

Dixie enjoyed time with family and friends, music, playing piano, working outside, attending Mt. Vernon Rams basketball games, and the annual Sikeston Missouri Rodeo. She was a faithful aunt and great-aunt, always acknowledging birthdays, anniversaries, and celebrations of her loved ones.

In addition to her husband, Billy Wilson of Mt. Vernon, she is survived by good friend and sister-in-law, Doris Davis of Mt. Vernon; nieces and nephews, Bill Davis and wife Wenona, Bob Davis and wife Carla, Marilyn Davis, Nancy Voyda and husband Tim, Linda Kirkpatrick and husband Billy, John Davis and wife JoAnne, Susan Guthrie and husband Shannon; and several dearly loved great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Davis and wife Ruth, and Maurice Davis; and niece, Sarah Davis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service, at the funeral home. Pastor Britt Fullerton will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at a later date, at South Hickory Hill Cemetery.
