WAYNE CITY, IL — Anson Fenton, the former Police Chief of Wayne City, appeared in federal court in East St. Louis for his arraignment on charges of misappropriating forfeited vehicles. Fenton, who waived a full reading of the charges, pleaded not guilty to two counts: Misapplication of Property from Federally Funded Programs and Interstate Transportation of Stolen Property. The allegations include trading a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle for a 1991 Mustang and selling a 2000 Harley-Davidson, as well as transporting a stolen motorcycle to Virginia. He was released on bond, but if convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of $250,000 per count.
