CENTRALIA – Centralia Schools called off classes today after Centralia Police were informed by the school district’s school resource officer Wednesday afternoon that there was a threat to harm anyone that went to the Centralia Junior High School Thursday.

After getting this information, police began to investigate and contacted school district officials.

Police were able to quickly determine where the message originated and took an 11-year-old girl in custody. The girl’s mother fully cooperated with police and was able to bring this case to a close. The girl was charged with Felony Disorderly Conduct.

The Marion County States Attorney’s Office along with the Marion County Probation Department were contacted per protocol. The girl did not qualify for detainment and was released to a family member.

In the process of investigating the original threat, a second 11-year-old came into the police department to confess about a separate threat that was posted on social media. School officials were notified of the second threat. The 11-year-old was charged with Felony Disorderly Conduct and released to a guardian.
