SESSER – The Delta Regional Authority has awarded the City of Sesser a grant for $571,000 that will be used to replace an aging sewer main to improve services to businesses and residents.

According to a post on The City of Sesser Facebook page, the existing main dates back to the 1930s. Funding for this project is provided by the Community Infrastructure Fund, which targets physical infrastructure projects that help build safer, more resilient communities in the Delta region.

The Delta Regional Authority coordinates directly with the Office of the Governor for the State of Illinois and five local development districts in the state for program funding implementation.

The City of Sesser would like to thank the DRA Federal Co-Chairman Dr. Corey Wiggins, Governor J.B. Pritzker, Congressman Mike Bost, Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, Greater Egypt Planning Commission and the Governor’s DRA Representative Brandi Bradley for making this possible.
