HOYLETON, Ill. — Robert Sensmeyer, 66, of Hoyleton, formerly of Grandin, MO, passed away on Sunday, June 2 , 2024 surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 17, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ferdinand and Shirley (Gossett) Sensmeyer.

Robert is survived by two sisters, Janice Saxenmeyer and husband, Roland, of Hoyleton, IL and Peggy Renteria of Arnold, Missouri; a Brother-In-law, Tim Johnson, of Hillsboro, Missouri; an Uncle, Walter Sensmeyer and wife, Shirley, of St. Peter, Missouri, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and many cousins; and his beloved dog, Rosie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Laura Beckemeyer and Donna Johnson and a brother-in-law, Eddie Beckemeyer.

Robert was a lover of music and could play many instruments including the guitar, piano, clarinet, banjo and saxophone. He loved to sing and was in the church choir. He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan, enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting, camping and collecting old vinyl albums and coins. He also enjoyed playing cards and games. His family and friends will remember him as being a funny and quirky man. He was an instant friend to all that he met and was always authentically himself! He lived life on his terms and could be stubborn as a mule! He was a creative, inventive soul. He passed without fanfare, just listening to his family connect, laugh, and telling tales of adventures had. Literally, it was a moment of being present, and then the next moment he was free from struggles. He will be greatly missed by many!
