MOUNT VERNON — Cynthia Jane Lehman, 76, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:45 pm May 21, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. She was born August 18, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Reid and Dot (Parker) Starkey. Cynthia married Dennis Lehman on May 18, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

In addition to her beloved husband of fifty-six years, Cynthia is survived by her sons, Lance Lehman and wife, Jennifer of Mount Vernon, Andy Lehman and wife, Kim of Maryville, Tennessee, and Jonathan Lehman and wife, Kristina of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Melissa Lehman, Lindsey Lehman, Hayden Lehman, Clay Langa, and Rylee Langa; and brother, Stephen Starkey.

Cynthia thrived in the sunshine, always maintaining a beautiful flower garden and never met a plant she couldn’t handle. She enjoyed summers at the rec club, socializing with her girlfriends and spending time with her friends, family, especially her grandchildren, and her beloved dogs. She enjoyed her work as a funeral assistant at Newell and Hughey Funeral Homes. Cynthia was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am with Mr. Marty Mills officiating.
