
HOFFMAN, Ill. — William “Dee” Evans, 70, of Hoffman, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 in his home.
Dee came into this life on November 23, 1953 in Harrisburg, Illinois. He was the son of Marvin Evans and Ruth (Bundren) Evans. He married his wife Brenda (Price) Evans in Centralia, Illinois in 2015 and she survives him.
In addition to his wife Brenda, Dee is survived by his sons: James Evans and wife Angelina of the country of Bahrain, William “Dub” Evans and wife Jamie of Kenny Lake, Alaska, and Jared Meier and wife Becky of Highland, Illinois; daughters: Jessica Meier-Hanks and husband Christopher of St. Charles, Missouri, Jan Dalton and husband Robbie of Centralia, and Jamie Meier and partner Junior Thomas of Centralia; nine grandchildren; one niece: Dawnette McCree and husband Scott of Herrin, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
When Dee passed on, he was reunited with his parents: Marvin and Ruth Evans; one infant brother: Sammy Evans; and his brother Bob Evans.
Dee was a prison guard for the Centralia Correctional Center before retiring. He enjoyed watching sports in his free time. His favorites were the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He also liked to play war board games. Dee was a bit of a history buff. He loved to travel to historical places; particularly Civil War battlefields sites. Of all his pastimes, Dee loved to spend time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Hoffman Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 N. Sycamore Street, Centralia, IL 62801 (618)532-3523.
