WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 57-year-old Belleville man has been found unfit to stand trial in a Washington County Court case charging him in connection with the death of an East St. Louis man whose body was found last summer in Washington County.
Milton Robinson is one of three defendants from Belleville accused of killing 44-year-old Montez Pearson in early July 2023. Pearson’s body was discovered on July 19 near Lunte Creek Road in Washington County.
Police arrested 57-year-old Kevin Loucks on July 23 after a search warrant was executed at his residence in Belleville.
Robinson was arrested the following day, and 45-year-old Arrion Sanders was later arrested and charged in the case.
A Washington County judge found Loucks guilty of First Degree Murder and he’s scheduled to be sentenced next week. Sanders is scheduled for an April jury trial.
Doubt had been raised about Robinson’s mental fitness to stand trial in the case. Following a professional evaluation, the court agreed and remanded the defendant to the custody of the Department of Human Services. It’s believed Robinson could attain mental fitness within one year of receiving inpatient treatment.
Robinson is due back in Washington County Court June 18 for a status hearing on his treatment.
