MARION COUNTY — A 37-year-old St. Louis man was sentenced this week in Marion County Court to nearly two decades in prison after he pleaded guilty late last year to multiple child sex crimes.
Courtney Buffkins pleaded guilty in November 2023 to four counts of Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse and was sentenced to six years on each count to be served consecutively.
He was also sentenced to 15 years on one Class X count of child pornography for recording himself committing sex acts over multiple days with a girl in Salem in November 2021. That sentence was also ordered to be served consecutively.
Six charges of child pornography involving a second victim remain pending in Marion County against Buffkins and could result in additional prison time.
Buffkins pleaded guilty earlier last year to a misdemeanor charge in Marion County Court of obstructing identity in exchange for a felony charge being dismissed.
He also pleaded guilty last year to Class 4 felony criminal sexual abuse in Cumberland County, Illinois, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Buffkins also facing felony charges in Coles County, Illinois, for Class 1 criminal sexual assault and two counts Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a juvenile victim 5 years or more younger than him.
