MOUNT VERNON — Michael “Mike” Britton Jackson, 56, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2024 at his home in Jackson, Missouri. He was born on February 3, 1968 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Beverly (Britton) Clark, and the late Benny Jackson.
In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his daughter, Lauren Jackson of Marion, Illinois; son, Evan Jackson of Oak Ridge, Missouri; sister, Amy (Mark) Lanzotti of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; step-mother, Dee Jackson of Mount Vernon, Illinois; step-brother, Mark (Debbie) Dousman of Murphysboro, Illinois; and several cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and step-fathers, William Dousman and Eugene Clark.
Mike worked over 20 years at Walgreens Distribution Center in Mount Vernon before recently moving to Missouri. He enjoyed listening to 80’s hair band music, woodworking and was always willing to help anyone in need. He deeply loved Jesus and his country. Mike was a very talented artist and woodworker, and his family will forever cherish the hand carved crosses he made for each of them.
A Greeting of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. Johnathan Schnautz officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mike’s honor to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter or Veterans Association HOOAH.
