MARION COUNTY — Marion County is mourning the loss of a public servant. Harley Carter was just 19 when he passed away Saturday. He was a dispatcher for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and was a volunteer firefighter for the Salem Fire Protection District.

A Celebration of Life for Harley Douglas Carter will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem with Pastor Trent Ice officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service.

The Salem Fire Protection District and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department will provide an Honor Guard during the visitation. The Marion County Fire Service Honor Guard will conduct a flag presentation and Honors.

For those who wish, memorials can be made to the Salem Fire Protection District or a fund for his niece and nephews, and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
