DALE, Ill. — Ronald Albert “Ron” Deen, 71, of Dale, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL. Ron was born January 6, 1953 in Eldorado, IL to Hugh & Alice (Davis) Deen. On August 15, 1977 he married Lois (Ritchason) Deen, who preceded him in death on September 24, 2018.
Ron was a talented mechanic, and had retired from McLean John Deere in Norris City, IL. He had previously worked at the International dealership in McLeansboro, and owned & operated Ron Deen Farm Repair in Dale, IL. He was a former member of the Hebron Presbyterian Church in Walpole, IL.
Ron enjoyed fishing, fixing cars & trucks, and shooting guns. He loved watching Westerns, especially the TV series Gunsmoke. He loved fast cars and loved animals – he had many pet dogs over the years. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Ron is survived by a daughter Darla (Roberson) Bassetti of Henderson, KY; 2 sons: Dean Roberson & wife Katrina of McLeansboro, IL and Matthew Deen & wife Amy of McLeansboro, 7 grandchildren: Kassandra Hampton & husband Matthew, Nicholas Bassetti, Alex Bassetti, Dacin Roberson, Ellie Deen, Hallie Deen, and Hank Deen; 3 great grandchildren: Isla Hampton, Octavia Hampton, and Ezekiel Hampton; a sister Lisa (Deen) Young & husband Chris of Walpole, IL; a sister-in-law Connie Deen of Walpole, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh & Alice Deen, his wife Lois Deen, and a brother Roger Deen.
Funeral Services for Ronald Albert “Ron” Deen will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the New Life Assembly Church of God in McLeansboro, IL with Pastor Eric Ragan officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the church on Friday. Interment will follow the funeral service at Hebron Cemetery in Walpole, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hebron Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the church or at Gholson Funeral Home in Mcleansboro.
