MOUNT VERNON — Rogelio “Roy” C. Bertaud, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:05 pm January 22, 2024 at his residence. He was born April 5, 1933 in Wichita, Texas to Humberto and Guadalupe (Colunga) Bertaud.

Rogelio is survived by his son, Roy Bertaud, Jr. of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughters, Guadalupe “Lupe” G. Bertaud of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Christina Ryan and husband, Kevin of Catalina Island, California; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rogelio was preceded in death by his son, Richard L. Bertaud, daughter, Eudelia Johns, and several siblings.

Rogelio was a true cowboy and always dressed in his western wear. He was a professional baker and his favorite treat to make was brownies. Above all, Rogelio was a loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Per Rogelio’s wishes, no services will be held.
