CLINTON COUNTY — The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office reported Illinois Route 161 near Winter Road in Albers was under water Tuesday morning.

Motorists were advised to use caution when traveling through the area or seek an alternate route.

IDOT was alerted to the issue and water was pumped from the area and the roadway ultimately reopened.

That area suffers from mine subsidence and the roadway can quickly be filled with water. With rain in the forecast for the remainder of the week, motorists should be prepared for flooding in that area again and plan accordingly.
