MOUNT VERNON — On January 15, 2024, Robert David Doerner, 75, passed away peacefully.
David was born on January 22, 1948 in Carmi, Illinois. He was the eldest son of the late Carl David Doerner and Freda Edwards Doerner. David’s career was that of a licensed plumber and pipe fitter. At one time, he owned his own business in Arlington, Texas. He was a great outdoorsman. Earlier in life, he enjoyed water skiing and scuba diving. He loved to hunt and was a great shot. David won many competitions with his exceptional skills. The game of golf became a passion and weather permitting, he played daily. He enjoyed the camaraderie tremendously.
David is survived by his wife, Janice Doerner; daughter, Keisha Woodbridge; granddaughter, Madeline Woodbridge; brother, Bradley Doerner and wife, Winona and their children; Jan’s children, Jacob Kuerth and Tammy, Jessica Kuerth, and Jennifer Kuerth.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother.
Per his wishes, David will be cremated. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for January 27, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel. Memorials may be made in David’s honor to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
