CARBONDALE — A 17-year-old male pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle in the 1300 block of East Main Street.

According to Carbondale Police, officers responded around 4 a.m. to a report of a traffic crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers determined the pedestrian was walking in the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck.

The Jackson County Ambulance Service responded and transported the injured pedestrian to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld at this time.

The vehicle’s driver that struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
