WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 43-year-old Louisville, Kentucky man was formally charged Thursday in Washington County Court with multiple high-level felonies stemming from a traffic stop on Interstate 64 near Okawville.
Trevor Kelsey is facing two Class X felonies for trafficking more than 5,000 grams of cannabis and possession with the intent to deliver more than 200 grams of a controlled substance, as well as Class 1 felony possession of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis.
Around 10:30 Wednesday morning, a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy and his K-9 partner reportedly stopped Kelsey on I-64 and performed a search after the canine alerted to drugs in the vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s department, 160 pounds of cannabis were found in the search, along with 12 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, and 59 pounds of THC cartridges and edibles. The street value of those items, says the sheriff’s department, is around $500,000.
Kelsey was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail where he remains pending a first appearance on the charges Friday in Washington County Court.
